July Tea Table Chat!

So What Is Going On In StudioE Tea Salon?

Happy 4th of July America!     4th of July tea party

It is a colorful time to prepare the house to celebrate Independence Day.
Why not take that old American flag out of it's triangle case and honor it by mounting it on the wall.
For the 4th,  put it on full display in all of it's red, white, and blue glory.
I love my blue and white porcelain tea set and I find it perfect to represent of the holiday.

So my dear friends, enjoy you summer time tea and stay cool!

June In The Studio!

June is National Iced Tea Month.    June 10 is designated as National Iced Tea Day!

Legend has it that a tea vendor at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis popularized the drink.
Richard Blechynden, director of the East India pavilion, became frustrated as he tried to offer samples of hot tea under the simmering Missouri sun. In an attempt to boost consumption, he circulated and chilled the tea through a series of lead pipes immersed in ice.

The resulting cool, refreshing beverage was a hit with fair goers, and the iced drink became popular throughout the United States. Be sure to always call it iced tea rather than ice tea. Tea with ice in it is an iced beverage.
So,we have the 1904 World’s Fair to thank for the lift-off in popularity of iced tea. That exceedingly hot summer meant fair goers were looking to cool down and what better way than with a glass of iced tea.
By the First World War, Americans were buying tall glasses, which became commonly known as iced-tea glasses, long spoons suitable for stirring sugar into taller glasses and lemon forks.
Prohibition, which ran from 1920 to 1933, helped boost the popularity of iced tea as Americans looked at alternatives to drinking beer, wine and hard liquor, which were made illegal during this period.

We are also trying to keep cool with the upcoming summer weather at the Tea Salon.

We are serving this month a nice Wonjoh Ice Tea. It is a flavorful Hibiscus tea from West Africa.

It makes for a great colorful and refreshing Iced Tea.    Add some berries and orange slices and sit back and enjoy.

Well with that said, "I wish you a cool and lazy summer!"
